June is Athletic Therapy Month, and as someone who lives and breathes this work every single day, I couldn’t be more excited to shine a light on a profession that means so much to me — and to so many others in British Columbia.
I became an Athletic Therapist because I wanted to help people move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what they love after injury. Whether it’s an elite athlete returning to competition, or a parent recovering from back pain so they can pick up their kids again — that moment when someone realizes they’re healing… that’s everything.
Athletic Therapy Is for Everyone
People often think Athletic Therapy is just for pro athletes or sports teams. While we definitely do a lot of work on the sidelines — assessing injuries, providing emergency care, and helping athletes get back in the game — our work extends far beyond the field.
I treat people from all walks of life in my clinic. Weekend warriors, youth athletes, folks managing chronic pain, seniors recovering from surgery — if it involves bones, muscles, or joints, we’re here to help. Athletic Therapy combines manual therapy and exercise-based rehab, grounded in science and movement. And it works.
Why I’m a Member of ATABC
I’m proud to be part of the Athletic Therapist Association of British Columbia (ATABC) — the organization that governs our profession in this province. ATABC makes sure we’re held to the highest standards of care, and that we continue to grow as therapists through ongoing education and professional development.
What I appreciate most about ATABC is that it feels like a team. They advocate for us, promote the profession, connect us to job opportunities, and give us the tools we need to succeed — so we can give you the care you deserve.
We’re On Your Team
At the end of the day, Athletic Therapy isn’t just a job — it’s a passion. It’s about helping people return to sport, return to work, return to life.
So this June, I’m celebrating all my fellow Athletic Therapists across BC and the incredible work they do, both on the field and in the clinic. We’re here to support, to heal, and to empower. No matter your goal — we’re on your team.
Thanks for trusting us with your health and recovery.
